Comments CommentsIt was a little annoying to have Flying Yankee and Newfound Ridge totally taken over by ski racing. Basically, other than Headwall and Upper Crewcut, there weren't any steeps available, at least in the morning when I was there!!!! I didn't feel bad poaching some glades when they close so much other terrain!!!! They should open some of the flatter glades anyway - after all, Crotched doesn't close ANY glades!!!! OK, I was a little peeved. Crowds really showed up mid-morning, when I left for some local backcountry split boarding. As much as I like Ragged, when there is a queue of people, the lifts should be trying to organize 6 people per six-pack chair!!!!

At any rate, the smell of woodsmoke was nice, and, it was nice to have the Cardigan/Jug Handle/Turnpike open though with the racing, that was the only route available down from the Spear lift.
