Comments | Tricky conditions, as the soft snow yesterday set up solid after being groomed last night. Novice terrain that was groomed this morning was good, so presumably the next grooming shift should improve things. 6 unique ways down from the top, with a few additional beginner options down low. Kandahar was decent (not full width yet), though the Lower Kandahar steeps were bulletproof. Upper Skimeister was boilerplate and golf balls, but lower Skimeister was better. Bandit was open between the two trails, but bulletproof. Middle was bulletproof and a little scary on the steeps (and only a few cat passes wide). The Ledges was also firm, but a little more controllable due to the fall line. Other than those two routes and a few piles of snow in the terrain park area, there's virtually no snow on the main wide slopes (but lots of guns in waiting). Schneider to Artist Falls or Jimmy's Run was very firm and a little iffy on the turn as a result. Easy Street was the other option from the top on this side and was decent. From the South Quad, the South Slope was about half width, while Beginner's Luck, Snow Train, and Outta Luck were open. Lucky Pitch was closed, due to a broken snowcat being parked in the middle. Emperor and the lift line/Chin Strap were open off the C-More Double and skied very nicely (freshly groomed after the freeze). Nice sunny skies. Seemed like skiers could be counted by the dozen instead of the hundred or thousand. |
