Comments CommentsWe were originally supposed to be skiing Sugarloaf today, but alas they shut down, so it was a long drive back last night.

Waterville is one of the last ski areas in the country still operating, albeit with basically no base facilities. The mountain still has full snow cover and there were no issues with crowding.

Initially, only the groomed trails were open, however they opened most everything else at lunch time. Ungroomed terrain didn't soften up much, but you could at least get an edge to catch.

Everything off Green Peak was open, with the exception of Wayne Wong Way (looked pretty firm). Piano Man and the lift line were ungroomed/firm, but most everything else saw at least a pass of the snowcat. Clean Shaven was fun.

Meadows and High Country were closed.

On the main mountain, Upper Bobby's/White Caps were so so. Utter Abandon and Tommy's were okay (Tommy's was closed for a race for awhile). Psyched, Chute, and Lower Sel's were closed. Old Tecumseh was decent.

On Northside, Tippy and Tyler were decent. Boneyard opened later in the day and was scratchy, as was Tangent to Periphery. Did not venture onto Preston's, as the natural bumps were shining.

On Sunnyside, everything except Lower Bobby's (closed with a barespot near the access road) was open and had some grooming. Ciao, Gema, and True Grit had a few passes with the cat with bumps left on the side. A little scratchy in places later in the day, but all were nice when the snow softened in the sun late in the morning.

Not particularly crowded (no lines), but still a decent amount of folks skiing considering the circumstances. Beautiful blue skies and not too windy. Nice to get outside.
