Comments CommentsI know rhodeislandskier has written a review of Loon just about every day of Christmas vacation. I don't want to blow up the condition reports on Loon this year but since I haven't really been to Loon in a VERY long time, I felt like I needed to add at least a brief update on mid-week conditions since the thaw 2 days ago.

Got to Loon at 8:45, booted up at my car, and got in line at the Kanc8. For some reason, they decided to let the people waiting outside for first chair go in and load 5 or 6 minutes early, which I though was really cool. Missed first chair at the Kanc, but did make it to first chair at North Peak! Took some laps on Flume, Walking Boss, and then Sunset to Tote. All trails were really nice and firm for it being almost -5 that morning. Run of the day would deffinatly be Walking Boss.

South Peak was also in really good condition. Bit less firmer and more chunks of snow in places, but overall really nice. Measured my speed on ski tracks on Cruiser and got up to 68mph! Saw that Ripsaw was also getting prepared for opening too, as cat tracks were all over it.

After taking Tote back it was around 12ish, so grabbed a bite to eat inside the Adams lodge. Lapped Seven Brothers and the Kanc after lunch for some afternoon runs. Pretty much a sheet of ice. All Loon Parks were getting some snowmaking love during the day, which is a pretty good sign.

Managed to achieve last chair at the Kanc today. Waited about 10 minutes. While waiting, they shut the doors and moved the RFID gates while I was still inside the building. The lifties told me that the process for parking the chairs takes just about 15 minutes. Amazing. The new lift just blows me away.

Temps started out at -5°, and warmed up to just about 23° and sunny. Beautiful bluebird day.
