Comments CommentsGood to be back out and about at Sunday River again. Conditions today? Unbeatable. Hands down, best day of the year so far.

Snagged the first chair at lift #2 and made my way over to Barker, via Broadway. Ecstasy to Sunday Punch, then Jungle Road to Cascades. All in fantastic shape with freshly groomed packed powder. Cascades was by far the best run of the day. Wall-to-wall grooming coverage on Cascades was something I had not seen in awhile, so it definitely earned the best trail of the day in my opinion. Also took Top Gun to see what was left of the natural snow from MLK weekend. Yeah, bad idea. Crusty, icy, everything that the East Coast is known for. Don't ski it unless you got dem skis sharpened there bub.

Went onwards to Aurora and Jordan Bowl, through Three Mile Trail to Sensation. Bit of a hike, but not too shabby. Also noticed that Paradigm and Backside are open now as well. Hit up Airglow first, then Northern Lights to Firestar. Afterwards, took Vortex. Little bit more firm on the surface and icy down bottom, but hey. No complaints here. Just happy there's snow!

Jordan Bowl is currently in the best shape of the season. By far, it has the most natural snow of all 8 peaks, and the glades certainly show it. Blind Ambition was really great, but Wizards Gulch was, well........don't know if I should say it...... I'll keep it a secret. Lollapalooza, Rouge Angel & Excalibur were all equally matched in terms of quality of grooming, with Rouge Angel really having the best surface of the 3. Bottom pitch of Rouge Angel was really level and fast; possibly even better than Cascades.

Called it a day with a solid 25 runs in. Temps started out at around 2 degrees, then got up to 14 with sunny skies.
