Comments CommentsThis is the last week of skiing at Wachusett as they are expected to close Sunday, Apr 3. Still plenty of snow on the upper mountain trails, mostly full width skiing except beginning of Smith Walton but by the time you hit the headwall section it is full width. We were greeted today with a couple inches of fresh light pow which was just a bonus. A little sticky going at times on the fresh snow but nice to see the ski tracks made by only a few of us run after run as we rode the lift up. Very few folks. Today you'd have to wait 5-10 mins to have someone to ride up with, if so inclined, instead of the other way around, ha, ha. Mid mtn trails, especially Look Mom and Ralph's are getting very thin and narrow in spots, but Challenger, Frannies Folly, Piece of Cake and Upper Hitchcock are still in fine shape. Overall WaWa folks did a commendable job this year given all the weather issues. The Day after Thanksgiving start was a week or two later than usual, but given the weather very understandable and still they opened a lot sooner than most of the big north country areas. Crowds were very minimal this year compared with last for whatever reason which could have been the new day ticket structure, limited seasons passes or just people going elsewhere, whatever it worked well and my hat is off to WaWa folks this year. I'll still get in a few more days at WaWa but already counting the days till opening day 2022. Have al good summer folks. First six or so photos below were from yesterday if interested. Edit: Found out today (tuesday) that operational hours for the week are 10-6, not 9 to 7 as they have been. Most of us regulars were caught off guard by this change which took place tuesday 3-29. Skiing thursday 3-31 may be cancelled entirely if the forecasted rain materializes so check before you go.
