Comments CommentsSurprising amount of terrain open - pretty much every trail except Wayne Wong, Lower Bobby's, and Higher Ground. Subpar weather (very foggy on the upper mountain, eating up snow quickly today), but rain held off until after closing.

Lower Meadows, Green Peak, White Peaks, and High Country lifts were running today, meaning everything was accessible (whereas other mountains are starting to shut down complexes for the year).

Thin areas popping up quickly in the fog, particularly under the high speed quad. I suspect this is by design, as the lift is closing for the season on Sunday (and construction is underway for the barn) so that the new six pack can go in during the tight construction window due to Bicknell's Thrush restrictions (Waterville can't grant themselves a waiver like Cannon does).

Green Peak was decent, though one had watch out for occasional rocks (very rocky in the off season). Clean Shaven was easily the run of the day from this peak - smooth with good snow. Pfosi's Pfolly was amazingly still open, as a single cat track winding its way down.

Sunnyside was very thin up top, and True Grit is on its last legs narrow in places). Gema and Ciao also had a few thin spots, as did Oblivion up top. No Grit was good.

High Country had good snow cover, probably because of the new fan gun installation. Hassle was particularly nice, as I think people were avoiding the complex due to the thick fog. We timed it well and had a few glimpses of sun.

Upper Bobby's and White Caps were getting hit pretty hard by the fog and had some bare spots/rocks showing by lunchtime. Psyched to Exhibition was decent, but Lower White Caps is on its last legs. Utter Abandon and World Cup were fine, as was lower Sel's. Old Tecumseh also decent, as were Tippy-Tyler (not wall to wall anymore). Boneyard had nice snow. Periphery had good, deep snow. Preston's Path is still open top to bottom on natural snow with only a few rocks/stumps sticking up.

Mild temperatures made for spring snow, but nothing particularly thick. Mountain was pretty much empty by noontime.

Apparently the White Peaks Quad is done forever as of Sunday, and lower mountain lifts will run during the week next week, and then Sunnyside and Northside will be used the following weekend for the main mountain. Should be interesting to see if they make it that far (hard to retain snow in warm fog). Nice to have almost the entire mountain open today though, especially with the mild second half of winter.
