Comments CommentsAnother local special Sunday!
Sugary snow on the sides of trails, sometimes scratchy and firm in the middle. Quite a few kids bopping around out there, place seemed to empty out by 2:30. Fair amount of race kids and training going on by Range View.
Coos Caper was the only natural trail that held up from the warm spell, but had good snow left. Upper steeps were a little picky, but staying on the left seemed to be fine. Little chute area before joining Crawford Ridge was scraped down but the snow on the sides was good for purchase. A Ford Sayer teen was skiing out of control, and while we worked our way around a child cautiously, I thought for sure one of us would be taken out by this kid.
Snowmaking on Brettons Wood was fun, skiers right, away from the snow guns so you didn’t lose your skis. Connector trail over to Sawyers Swoop was hardly touched, beautiful views of the southern presidential range from there. I think everyone thought it was closed.
Rosebrook quad chair was only serving High Ridge, but it was nice to be able to create a couple of continuous runs from there when possible.
