Comments CommentsText book 'variable conditions' day - 1" of new wet stick snow at the base, increasing to 3" at the summit. Conditions varied based upon order of grooming, base amount, elevation, exposure, etc. Some wet powder, some spring snow, some crud, occasional thin spots, occasional rocks.

All chairlifts were running, which helped to keep lines reasonable. Saw very few people riding the new Catamount Quad and the Promenade Triple. Glades Triple, which essentially serves the whole mountain, was ski-on once it started spinning (you had to ski through brown snow/rocks to get to it).

Ripper was groomed for the first time ever, making for another legit steep trail. About 3 cats wide of manmade (with a thin spot showing). Appears they winched it with a snowmaking hose wrapped around at tree? In any event, nice to finally ski it (though it was busy).

Catapult had not been groomed since the new snowfall. First run was good, but it looked pretty choppy thereafter due to race activity, etc.

Chute, Lower Glade, and Marty's Run all had some thin spots showing (dirt, rocks, etc.). Made the mistake of trying Echo's Run off the top of the Promenade Triple; lots of rocks under the 2" of wet powder.

Spencer's Way, Christopher's Leap, Turnpike, Expressway, Lynx, and Lookout were not open. Hopefully they get Lookout open on manmade snow next year, as that side is really busy before the various lower mountain trails split off.

Cloudy morning with fresh snow and warming temperatures. Lifts and lower mountain terrain spread folks out, but other areas were a bit busy.

Hope they plant some trees to delineate the lower mountain slopes and revegetate the areas that won't see snowmaking.
