Comments CommentsMy final day of the season before they close this Sunday 4/2. I managed to end up skiing with a couple friends who have season passes as well, which was a nice surprise. We skied groomers for the morning while things softened up. Newfound was pretty crispy until lunchtime, the groom on it was a little tricky so it seems like it was pretty wet when the cat hit it. Showboat, Flying Yankee, Headwall, Exhibition and Chute were all soft from the beginning. Probably hit Flying Yankee five or six times, it was so nice!! Overall any of the crispy trails got better with each run.

Snow report mentioned that some closed trails may open later in the afternoon, so just before 1:00 I popped into the ski patrol shack to inquire about Sweepstake. The patrol here are so funny, and personable. The patroller asked me if I would like it to be open? I said please! And he said Let’s go open it! He sent me under the rope before he unhooked it. The trail was FANTASTIC! Perfect soft bumps, with hardly anything to thread around. I happily lapped it twice and then made my way into Pel’s Pass for one of my final runs...also beautiful. Such nice snow, pretty full coverage still.

I skied one run on the backside since it was pretty sticky. I decided to skip Easy Winder, and took the exit for Big Rock. Great soft snow, a little sticky and a few rocks to watch for. Hooked a left onto Mikey’s Run and had that all to myself! A couple of holes forming halfway, easy to miss if you pay attention. The cross country ski out of Lower East Winder was good cardio, and saw that Moose Alley looked like it got a good refill so I decided to try that after.

Bummed to see the season ending so soon here, patroller mentioned it was a lack of guests. There is still so much snow left!
