Comments CommentsBetter than expected today at Mount Sunapee! Got concerned when I saw last night that reservations were sold out, but it wasn't mobbed, and reservations were available again this morning, so maybe it was just a glitch? Anyway, the mountain was pretty empty until around 10:30. The line for both the Sunapee Express and the North Peak Triple were long but not crazy. They both about filled their small queues, but it never really spilled out of the set-up line.

Dust on crust conditions on most trails for most of the day today, but some trails were better than others. Wingding was pretty bad from the start. Skied it on my 4th run or so, and it was already pretty icy with some grass sticking through, so I avoided Sunbowl for the rest of the day after that. I only skied Upper Blastoff once, but it was alright when I skied it early in the morning. Skyway Ledges/Westside was great in the morning but started to get pretty icy after lunch, but there was still a fair amount of soft stuff to push around for most of the day. Lower Blast-Off was a little firm in the afternoon, while Chipmunk got pretty firm in the afternoon. Lower Ridge was really the trail that held up all day. The connector to get to it (Breck Brook) was pretty icy in the afternoon, but Lower Ridge itself skied wonderfully throughout the day.

Snow was being made on Bonanza and Upper Ridge pretty much all day, they are looking to be in good shape, and will be opening tomorrow and Friday respectively, which will help spread crowds off of Westside!

Overall, I'd say the morning was great, but the afternoon was pretty icy, but isn't that how it always is up here in New England?
