Comments CommentsOriginally intended to go to Mt. Abram, but they didn't post operating details until just before opening, so it was too late to make the drive. Thus, Bretton Woods' local Sunday afternoon deal again.

Trails with a manmade base include Swoop to Sawyer's Swoop (open with guns going), Bigger Ben to Ben, Outer Bounds to Crawford's Blaze, Range View, and the Rosebrook Meadow beginner slope. All had good packed powder surfaces.

Looked like they picked up 8-12" of powder from the storm (significantly more than I observed hiking Cannon yesterday), and fortunately dropped the ropes on a number of trails. Slight crust on top of the powder, but the powder itself was not too wet. One advantage of Bretton Woods in this scenario is that it is mostly low pitch, so the minimal snow is skiable. Darby's Drop and Upper Express (skipped this one due to lack of snow) were the steepest open natural trails and already had plenty of wear.

Willey's Slide, In Between, Fabyan's Express, and No Regrets were all generally decent if you kept your eyes out for random thin cover. Archie's Alley was awful beyond No Regrets, as the work road crushed rock was poking through.

Beyond the Zephyr Quad, Granny's Grit and Coos Caper were open (as well as Glades West). Granny's was the best of the two, as lower Coos Caper was getting quite thin.

Snowmaking in progress on High Ridge (off the top of Rosebrook), Swoop to Sawyer's Swoop (lower appears to be done), and Bretton's Wood.

Ben/Go West/Short Cut were constantly congested, but otherwise the open terrain was enough of absorb the crowd. With the gondola, novice quad, and two detach quads running, the lifts were ski-on (a few cabin wait for the gondola).
