Comments CommentsLeft Killington around 11:45 and drove over to Pico for a couple hours in the afternoon. Overall, conditions were similar to Killington. Fast and firm, soft granular, with the exception of Upper KA which was the iciest thing I've skied in my life. Outpost was dicey, with the steep part of sidewinder being nearly unskiable and Bronco having some rocks you had to watch out for. Wrangler was in good shape and had nice moguls. 49er was a bit icy up too but good the rest of the way down. Upper Pike was the safest bet off the summit, it was in the sun most of the day so it softened up nicely. B Slope was "closed for racing" even though no gates or racers were in sight.

After a few hours, around 2:30 we decided to try the Killington-Pico interconnect. The easiest way to access it was by taking 49er down to the second intersection with Summit Glades, with the entrance to the interconnect being right next to the cutover. It was a short walk uphill coming out of Pico, and all downhill from there. Cool views of Killington. The trail appeared to be freshly groomed and was typical hardpack, with a few sections where it was frozen cat tracks and golf balls, mostly at the top of the uphill schlep. The trail itself was no different than any other long Killington trail (think Great Eastern/Great Northern), being mostly low angle with a couple of switchbacks. There's a right turn that takes you back to Ramshead, gotta hit that or else you wind up on the access road. Definitely a cool experience.
