Comments CommentsAwesome afternoon at Whaleback. Blue sky, spring temperatures, everything open, and no crowds.

Snowmaking trails generally skied well, apart from a few thin spots in the narrows near the top of Canyon/Scrimshaw. Spout was amazing wall to wall hero snow. Did not note any expert trails with manmade base.

Natural trails on the east side generally saw a grooming pass or two at some point. Other than a thin spot on Ambergris, generally good coverage.

Out front, Blowhole had some awkward bumps, but good coverage. Upper Face had rocks/bare spots in the narrows, but better coverage thereafter. Dedicated bump line on the side of Lower Face.

West side trails were a little more gnarly (no grooming), but had pretty good coverage. Fluke was probably the thinnest. Upper Ivory Run only had one bare spot (from wet ground), but was certainly not novice today (untracked wet powder, waterbar dips, etc.). Jonah and Jawbone were great in the afternoon sun with only a few small bare spots.

Never waited more than a few chairs.

Crisp views of snowcapped Mt. Cardigan, Mt. Moosilauke, Franconia Ridge, and Presidentials.

Temperatures made it to the mid to upper 40s under clear skies. Despite this, things didn't get slushy, nor was there any significant melting. Hopefully much of the natural will make it to next weekend, even if the noreaster misses the Upper Valley.
