Snow Trail Conditions90% open; Frozen Granular, Loose Granular
Glades GladesAll closed after last nights hard freeze. Most seemed thin, but Plunge still had full coverage and will probably ski good during the warmup later this week.
Moguls MogulsUngroomed trails on the Blue Ribbon side (Pabst Panic, No Name Chute, Stargazer) had big bumps but were frozen solid and never really softened up. Soft moguls on upper Twister in the afternoon. Skiers right of West Meadow had bumps that had been left untouched.
Terrain Park Terrain Park(s)A park was set up on Plaza, pretty standard stuff - assortment of small/medium jumps, rails, boxes. I hit some of the jumps for fun.
Run of the Day Run of the DayTwister
Food and Beverage Food and BeverageChili in the lodge was very good. The food isn't cheap here, but it's not exorbitant either.
Comments CommentsI skied Bromley for the first time today! Was originally leaning towards Magic, but saw the forecast for a hard freeze after the recent warmup and decided to pay out of pocket to try out Bromley. It was a great decision. The trails were groomed well and the sun softened things right up. Ice was minimal - a few patches on the Blue Ribbon side, Run Around #1, and Upper Twister were a little scraped off, but no boilerplate and everything was still edgeable.

Just a daytrip, so I made it to the mountain at around 9:45. Started off on some of the easier terrain, taking a couple different combinations of the Run Arounds, Thruway, Sunset Pass, and Lower Boulevard. For being the main green off the top, I thought Run Around was on the narrow side - a fun, twisty green, but it could definitely get very scraped off on busier days. Even Magic Carpet is easier, in my opinion. Regardless, these runs were a great first impression of the type of mountain Bromley is. Fun rolling terrain with character.

Twister was in great shape all day, with even some soft bumps in the afternoon. Reminded me of Mount Snow's terrain, but a little steeper and not as uniform - snowmaking knolls and natural drops. Sunder was closed, Upper Liftline was open on natural snow but was crusted over. Corkscrew was fine as well, a bit firmer but another fun cruiser with some steeper drops. A telemark event followed by slalom training closed Upper East Meadow until around two, but it skied nicely in the sun after that. Spring Trail was groomed over big snowmaking piles. Ridge and Yodeler were both standard groomed frozen granular throughout the day. I even skied Lord's Prayer off the T-bar - short, but well groomed and I enjoyed the old-school T-bar.

The Blue Ribbon side was a little more hit or miss. Several trails were left ungroomed, something I'd normally appreciate and something that I'm sure will be fun when it corns up in a couple days, but the ungroomed stuff stayed rock hard and crusty even in the sun as the temp never hit 30. The whole area sort of reminded me of Berkshire East-style terrain, with similar length/vertical/pitch. Havoc and Blue Ribbon were probably the two best runs over there, wide fast moderately steep groomers with some quick drops. Pabst Peril was groomed but stayed slicker. I avoided the ungroomed trails.

I'd definitely recommend Bromley, especially to families. A smaller hill, but there's something for everyone and it has a nice family-friendly feel with rolling and playful terrain. Would love to come back when natural trails/glades are in play. Only complaint was the Sun Mountain express closing a few minutes early. If Magic is a 1960s New England throwback and Stratton is the modern megaresort, then Bromley is the 1990s/early 2000s - firmly in between the two with regards to infrastructure, terrain, and overall vibes.
