Comments CommentsWe were headed to Black but they had a power outage early as did Waterville so we stayed at Cranmore.
40 of 61 trails, 5 of 7 lifts, 30-40F, snow on the top, heavy wet snow mid mtn and snow & maybe rain at the base until 11 AM, light wind, afternoon the sun shown thru the haze then full sun, little to no grooming. They picked up 8" overnight and a couple inches in the morning. It must have been really early or late last night that they groomed a couple greens and a blue runs on skiers far right. And that was it. F- for groomimg. You couldn't groom just one run off the main face?? It wasn't really wet packed powder but Sierra cement. There was not enough skier traffic to really pack down many trails. We tried a few of the ungroomed and unless you were willing to head straight down the fall line you were going to have a hard time. It was hard for me to make any kind of turn. Still alot of kids and others were doing better. At one point from the express lift I counted more people down than upright on the slope. Then when you got to the lower quarter the grippy grabmes would show up. Making really inconsistent speeds and lurching which gets tiring. We ended up doing several runs under the South Quad. Although a green it was ungroomed but had had enough traffic to make it fun. Well until the grippy grabmes got you at the end.
We skied 5 hours and when we were unbooting after 2pm a group of 5 came in and were leaving after one run. They all got their money back. Tough skiing BUT tomorrow should be awesome AFTER they groom.
