Glades GladesStill felt a little low tide for frees but they were mostly open (not including closed regions of the mountain), plenty of fresh snow to be found. I only did West Pilot but it was nice.
Moguls MogulsSeeded bumps on Suntanner. There were natural bumps starting to form on some trails, but they were small and powdery for now - this included World Cup and Standard among others.
Terrain Park Terrain Park(s)I think there was one somewhere, I did not come across it though

Comments CommentsINCREDIBLE day at Stratton today. When I arrived the wind was howling and conditions on most trails were very wind-swept, ice mixed with deep snowdrifts along with packed powder on the lower mountain and more wind protected trails. It only got better from there. 1-2, maybe 3" of new snow fell between about 11 and 2, freshening up conditions a lot and making the mountain ski absolutely immaculately. The wind decreased with the new snow, making it easier to cross the summit to the Snow Bowl area.

Snow Bowl lift has not run since Wednesday's storm, so that area skied great all day especially further down where it wasn't wind scoured. Dino's Drop I believe had its rope dropped this morning and skied great all day on all-natural snow, a few spots of low tide but mostly powder. World Cup was great, Lower Spruce, Upper Slalom Glade, and Upper Drifter all good in that area as well. Mike's Way was wind swept and had gravel at one point - I nicked my ski pretty badly on it so beware.

Down the main face, all those groomers were a mix of icy, packed powder, and powder drifts in the morning, but evened out to a pretty consistent packed powder with the fresh snow. Frank's Fall Line was fun to open up and ski fast down, Tamarack was on the icier side as was Polar Bear. Standard was really good on natural snow later on, soft bumps and packed powder. Upper Spruce was great.

The main lot filled up and they parked me at Sun Bowl, which opens tomorrow. So, on the last run of the day, I ducked the rope onto Bear Down to and skied 14" of new snow since Wednesday all the way down from the summit to Sun Bowl base. Bear Down was perfection and only had a few tracks and there were even less on the lower part of Sun Bowl, though the snow was a bit heavier. All in all one of the greatest runs of my life, it's so rare to have such perfect conditions like that in Southern VT (let alone in December) and it capped off an excellent day.
