| Comments | Two ways down from the double, one way down from the triple, and a few crossovers. Manmade only, as there's no base under the natural powder (about 8" on-trail after the wind; Lower Hornet was briefly open, but patrol closed it after people hit some large rocks). Small, but decent (for Tenney standards) crowd; lifts were ski-on and trails weren't particularly crowded. Seemed like there was a lot of staff, but they were friendly. From the double, it was Shooting Star to Lights Out to Shooting Star, or Shooting Star to Edelweiss to Shooting Star (very top and very bottom of Edelweiss not open), with two crossovers to mix it up as well. The very top and very bottom got a little choppy later in the morning, but otherwise it was decent packed powder on Shooting Star and Edelweiss. Lights Out was not groomed, with a few inches of powder on top of a narrow, choppy manmade base. From the triple, it was Trillium to Eclipse, with the option of taking Pitcher to Shooting Star (no way back to the triple if taking the latter option). Narrow and thin in spots with some golf balls. No snowmaking in progress this morning, despite a cold start (lower teens warming into the lower 20s by lunch). Pond looked close to full. Noted ground guns staged in the park and tubing slope. The double stopped for 10 minutes around 11 AM and then went on mechanical hold, so I called it a morning. | |
