Comments CommentsWent to Ragged Mountain yesterday with my siblings and two of our cousins who were visiting for Christmas. None of us had been to Ragged before but we chose the mountain because it has a nice-looking beginner area and top to bottom green trails, and since it wasn’t blacked out on the Indy Passes that my siblings and I have. Since my cousins had never skied before, we were in the beginner area for most of the day teaching them the basics. However, they learned pretty quickly and eventually we were able to do a few top to bottom runs on Cardigan together. My sister and I also split off and did a couple of runs off the Summit Six Express at the end of the day.

It was a clear but chilly day, with Mt. Washington and the White Mountains visible and temperatures starting in the single digits and warming up into the low teens. Conditions were good with a packed powder/loose granular surface and minimal ice. Great coverage on the open terrain with machine-made snow; Pines, Raggae Glades and Upper Crew Cut were open on natural snow although their cover was thin. Snowmaking was running on Flying Yankee to add a second option from Spear Mountain. It wasn’t too busy with waits of no more than a few chairs for any lift. Overall it was fun to check another mountain off my list and introduce new people to skiing!
