Comments | Following the recent freeze, about 4 inches of snow fell last night as 2025 turned to 2026. When the snow stopped, the wind didn't, making for windblown snow throughout the mountain, often leaving the previous icy base exposed. Particular trails varied in condition, with some having entire pitches of sheer ice, while others retained plenty of soft spots to turn in. Some trails got worse from skier traffic as the day went in, with Tippecanoe being a notable example in the afternoon. Looking ahead at the weather, I would anticipate these conditions to remain fairly consistent through the middle of next week, when it is finally supposed to warm up a bit. Perhaps some snowmaking efforts could be carried out, by I imagine the current priorities (especially Lower Bobby's for the world cup, probably 20-30 guns firing there) have their bandwidth filled. If you plan to go this weekend, I highly recommend bringing skis with sharp edges.
ROTD goes to two, Scramble and Tommy's World Cup Run. Both are more often than not closed for racing, and the racers having NYD off made for a rare (at least for this time of the season) chance to ski them with no gates present. Both were still in decent condition as of mid morning. Another on the positive side, the mountain was not as crowded as I expected for a holiday. Never waited more than a minute or two for the Tecumseh Express.
