Glades GladesHornet Glade was riding well. I tried several other glades on the map: North Woods Glade, Hard Woods Glade - they would be fun if the brush were removed - there was just a bit too much - I had trouble getting out. They have some really nice terrain in the woods however!!!
Moguls MogulsSome natural moguls were forming at the lower ungroomed portion of Hornet - down the lower face area - that is nice and STEEP!!!!
Terrain Park Terrain Park(s)not really sure - ?
Run of the Day Run of the DaySweet William or lower Hornet (ungroomed portion)
Food and Beverage Food and BeverageI didn't partake.
Comments CommentsHad trouble deciding to skin (cost: $5) or buy an afternoon lift ticket.... after looking at the beautiful packed powder, it was clear: buy the lift ticket!!!! My goal was to ride all the (open!) black diamonds. I think I did (but I didn't duck any ropes!!!!). I didn't get into all the glades on the map - the ones I did needed a bit more work. I wouldn't rate it as 100% open, however, though it's pretty close. Forget-Me-Not and Culmination were not open - though many had ducked the ropes on those - I have been on them in the past and knew that without some sort of grooming, there would be no way to carry speed on their flats and reverse grades (though they have some nice drops!!!)... maybe they will open next year?????

ANYWAY, terrific afternoon!!!! I love that they actually had a LOT of packed powder!!!!! Really like Tote Road and many of the others for their twisty/windy style. The steeps are really fun but you have to seek them out - The drop on Shooting Star was pretty fun!!!!

It was also fun to ride the triple - I had never been on that lift!!!! That's the only way to access Scamper - another fun little trail!!!!

It was nice to have the trail names identified on the trails this year!!!! SO much better knowing where stuff is!!! Ski patrol and the lift attendants were really helpful and friendly!!!

Another fun thing is watching the other skiers/riders - so many really good, old-skool-style skiers - really just love the vibe here - so much more low-key than other bigger resorts that are so GO-GO-GO with all their high-speed everything.... finally a relaxed atmosphere!!!! This is the kind of resort I used to really enjoy with my father, when I was growing up - it really brings back the memories!!!!

I will definitely be back!!!
