Comments Comments49 of 61 Trails, and 10 of 10 Lifts were open today.

The temperature was in the mid 30's all day. No precipitation at the base at the start of the day. North Peak had light mist at lower elevation, and light snow toward the upper half. Went to South Peak at 11 AM, but it had light rain and poor visibility, so we went back over to the North Peak. By 1:30 it was too wet for our liking so we called it quits.

Race kids were out in force at the West Basin this morning. Many of them seemed confused by the RFID gates. If any one of them couldn't go through, the rest all stopped in their tracks. When a group of 5 tried to load onto one quad chair they stopped and let four chairs pass through empty before they figured out how to split up into 3 and 2! Coolidge Street was closed for race training.

Snow conditions were soft and carvable again today. Sunset trail got sloppy and bumped up as the morning progressed. Also Upper Picked Rock, and Flying Fox curves got bumped up. Upper Flume and Angel Street were in great shape - deep coverage and soft snow. Upper Walking Boss was the only trail we encountered that had firm, scratchy snow. The snow that was made there on Wednesday apparently was wet, and had hardened up. Lower Walking Boss was soft and nice. South Peak had really soft snow, but too much rain.

There were all types of skiers out today. Many folks were skiing slowly and cautiously through the bumped up areas. And there were some hotshots going too fast through the congested areas. So one needed to be careful.

Also noted that adult ticket pricing starts at 19 at Loon, compared to 18 at Bretton Woods. So I was still able to get a small price break on a day ticket for my daughter, who is currently home from college.
