Comments CommentsAbsolutely terrific. Coverage looked a bit light but don't let that fool you. It was great. Got there a bit before the lift (t-bar) started and was able to help the nice lady in charge bring in casseroles and other stuff from her car. Everyone was extremely nice and chatty. While snowboarding, one of the patrollers invited me to join his group/family/etc and we had a fun time riding Wilderness, taking pics, etc. It was like family - you can feel comfortable talking to anybody, waiting for new riders on the lift to get the hang of it, and chat with total strangers. Very unique. Some very small children gave me advice on certain trails - it was like everyone was all there to enjoy the place! Very laid-back.

You have to be a little patient, though, because every time the lift attendant had to stop the lift for someone who fell off the tow path, he had to run into the little building, re-fire up the old diesel engine, and punch a bunch of buttons. Very relaxing way to spend the morning.

At first the lift was only open to the mid-station, so, I had to hike to the top a couple times - not a big deal as they soon opened the top. All terrain was open, from what I could tell. There were a few natural hazards, but, I don't go to a ski area for perfection - I go to experience the lay of the land and the history. Sure, there were a few icy stretches but it was just fun, fun, fun.

I am pretty sure I did every trail - I almost missed Ian's trail - but last minute noticed it and that was my last run. Nice ungroomed more advanced trails - you get the feeling you have been in the woods a long long time when you emerge onto the bigger trails.

The lift was free today (from The Thrift Clothes Closet which sponsored the weekend), but, there was a donation jar in the lodge - well worth any donation!!!!
