Comments CommentsConditions have held up well through the thaw and rains. The snowmaking team has clearly been working hard to maintain the trails that are open, and gain access to more. Overall conditions were firm to start, but clearly were only going to get better with more traffic and the warmer temps. Some trails were almost like spring snow, with plenty of pack underneath to bite into.

Birches, Flying Yankee and Pines were the fresh to me (this season) open trails.

Birches had some small spots of grass sticking through, and some variable rolls and cookies from grooming but definitely not bad! Pines was in good shape, not traveled a whole lot yet. Lower Ridge leading into it was rugged, plenty of cookies and firm pack that wasn't as edgable as other trails.

Flying Yankee took the cake along with Showboat, both Speare trails were in prime condition. The exit from the chair was definitely frozen and firm, was gliding with control not speed. Race training going on Flying Yankee, but took a while to set up gates. Excellent conditions.
