Comments CommentsYesterday was 28 years in the making - leap day lands on a Saturday, the day my development program at Okemo happens weekly. Last time it happened was in 1992. Conditions were very variable today, from packed pow naturals to icy groomers. Pretty much everywhere but Jackson Gore today. To start the day, we did Sapphire, which as usual was skiing nicely. Then we spent the rest of the morning over at Solitude. Heaven’s Gate was in it’s usual great shape. Screamin’ Demon and Coleman Brook were also good. Sidewinder had the usual ice on the steep pitch partway down, and was crowded too. After some time there, we went to lunch at Sugar House. Mueller’s Run was great as usual with it’s fun terrain. Put it as ROTD. Upper World Cup had a rare night the night before where a groomer never visited it. It had a dusting of natural over the previously groomed snow the days prior. It was fun. Lower World Cup was also nice too, lacking the tons of ice it sometimes has. We then briefly popped into South Face. Lower Wild Thing was nice (didn’t do Upper) just like the other groomers. Rimrock had the usual icy spots (it gets skied off very fast on weekends due to the high traffic it gets). I didn’t do them, but I heard Punch Line And Stump Jumper (pick of the day in the report) were also good. Back on the main face, Nor’Easter was icy on the top section, but got better as you kept going. Lower Chief (accessed via Chute, didn’t ski Upper) was also nice as usual, being a race trail. Perhaps the worst thing I hit yesterday was the upper part of countdown. They had just blown snow on it, but the whales were very firm and skied off. Take turkey shoot to bypass it. The rest of countdown was the good usual. After my program ended at 2:00, I hit some stuff on my own. Triplesec opened around noon and still had some fresh spots on it. There are some rocks, but it is doable and many are marked. The Narrows was also nice, in better shape than usual which surprised me (fewer rocks). Whistler was also good. Upper Tomahawk had no features on it, but skied nicely as a groomer. Not sure why, but Lower Tomahawk (the huge park) closed around 3:00 today. Perhaps for a build. Ended the day with a nice cool down on Sachem off the Sachem Quad. Great day.

119/121 trails (possibly 118, beeline was roped off but is listed as open on the report)
20/20 lifts. Biggest line was 12-15 mins at the Sunburst Six according to signs
