Comments CommentsBusy day with pre-holiday crowds. I think most decided they had enough of virtual learning and played hooky. Upper lots were basically full when I pulled in around 8:50, managing to get a spot in the back of the furthest upper lot. People were perched in camp chairs booting up, making the navigation of the narrow lanes rough. One way signs might be appreciated, although they have proven ineffective in other settings so...

Snow was fantastic. Trails that had been groomed the day prior were left untouched overnight, and still had plenty of give. Cardigan had not been groomed and had formed plenty of bumps. Rocks were an issue throughout the trail, but with care and a sharp eye you could save your skis some pain. Groomers were good, Wild Side was the best of all groomers. Sunnyside was a fun short trip, and kept it interesting. Twister and Cemetery Gates were open, along with Big Rock. Mikeys Run was not groomed; same for EasyWinder. I missed out on both backside trails, the long run out with thin cover seemed questionable for my day after seeing the lower portion of Easy Winder from the bottom at Lower Ridge.

Lift line times quoted are realistic. I started timing them after the first run, and realized I had to make the best of what I had available. There was again someone moderating the flow for the lift, and doing it well according to the allotments given to them. I thanked every group who said yes when the attendant asked if he could put one on with them.

Hopefully the rain doesn’t completely obliterate the slopes. Ragged has been quick to recover before, and hopefully they can continue to pull it off. Snow makers are truly the unsung heroes of winter fun!
