Comments | After last week's up and down and limited traffic on the slopes this week was a real disappointment. Lift lines were relatively short but uphill capacity just overwhelmed available downhill terrain. First couple runs were nice on World Cup with a nice packed powder surface but it got quickly scraped off. Mueller's run was very slick in spots too. They opened Jolly Green Giant today but that was your typical hard marbly surface resulting from groomed out wet snowmaking but it was grippy. Sapphire was a joke with the number of people on it and the pick of the day last week, Lower Limelight, was very slick and a total mob scene. The Jackson Gore 6 pack is great and moves a lot of people but when you only have one trail open over there it gets a little congested. I couldn't believe the number of wanna beeeee downhill racers just flying through the packed slopes. They were blowing snow all day on Nor'easter and that should be open Tue or Wed at the latest which will help main mtn but they need to be making a lot more snow elsewhere to get more terrain open. They were making snow on Sidewinder at Solitude but they were not making anything at Jackson Gore and from what I could tell there was no activity at South Face. I don't know what their capacity for making snow is but with the great snowmaking weather of yesterday I expected to see guns blasting everywhere on unopened trails. It was pretty disappointing. I kept hearing of the horror show of people there Sunday. If the situation was this bad on a Monday I don't believe the situation is going to change much through New Year's so I'll wait 2022 before checking it out again. |
