Comments CommentsA lot of progress was made in recovering from Thursday night's carnage. The milder temperature today also helped to soften the snow. Most of the North Peak trails were refreshed with snowmaking Saturday and Sunday. That area had the best snow, and that's were we spent most of the day. Flume was in good shape. Lower Walking Boss still had some soft snowmaking piles that were fun to ski on. The East Basin Double was open today, it's been closed most of the season so far. It helps to relieve the lift lines at North Peak, and provide an alternate way to access Angel Street instead of having to take the gondola. Surprisingly for a holiday the lift line at North Peak was never more than a couple of minutes, and the singles line was even shorter. So we were able to get a ton of runs in today. Angel Street was in good shape. Basin Street, Big Dipper, and Triple Trouble were closed, they need more natural snow. The moguls on Rolling Bear were all groomed out today, it was in good shape.

The West basin was in good shape overall. Upper Northstar was closed, it was a sheet of ice covered by a few inches of new snow. Lower Speakeasy was closed. All the other trails were open.

Went to South Peak in the afternoon. The snow had softened up by then and the trails were all open and in good shape.

Finished the day at the Kanc8 until last chair. Came down to see a small Poodle dog running upslope from the base area, trailing a leash. A couple of kids were trying to follow him up, but he kept running away. A couple of ski patrollers on snowmobiles joined in the chase. After about 10 minutes of entertainment one of the kids got hold of the leash, and the crowd watching from the base area let out a loud cheer.

Watched as a groomer worked the snow inside the Kanc8 parking structure. Then they parked the chairs inside for the night. The staff invited us inside to watch from a lobby area. It was quite interesting to see.

Weather: Temperature was 22° at opening, warmed up to 42°. Mostly cloudy. No noticeable wind.
