Comments CommentsAfter a recent injury, we played it safe and spent the afternoon at the relatively local Mohawk Mountain. Every time we visit I'm impressed by this place, and today was no exception. All five lifts were running (Boulder closed at 3) and despite the near-full parking lot, there was never a line of more than two minutes. Things were ski-on or a couple chair wait for the most part. The mountain was also fully open, aside from half of a short little crossover trail below the summit. Despite the near-absence of natural snow, there was a deep base on the hill (some of the southern-angled parts were a little thin, but only on the sides of trails) and it was skiing great all things considered. Groomed and packed snow with some loose granular on top. Ice was pretty minimal, and it was edgeable enough because of the 40 degree weather. We skied every run in the place, some two or three times, in the span of 3.5 hours or so. It's always nice to visit these smaller hills and enjoy them for what they are.
