Comments CommentsStarted out at the West Basin at opening. Used my wide rocker skis for the fresh snow. I just had them hot waxed, they were so slippery that I darn near slid down into the pit at the end of the carpet loader. Almost every day I see someone do this, today was no exception. Took a couple of warm up runs on Lower Picked Rock and Blue Ox, then headed over to North Peak. Walking Boss and Flume were in good shape, with wind blown powder on skiers left of each trail. Sunset had more powder on skiers right, and more exposed firm snow on the left side. Upper Picked Rock and Flying Fox were in good shape with the new snow. From Grand Junction I took Rolling Bear to get back to the North Peak, it was in good shape. Sunset to Haulback to Lower Flume and Lower Walking Boss was good. Cant Dog was open to lower Angel Street, which was good. Big Dipper, Triple Trouble, and Basin Street were closed. The East Basin double wasn't running but the lift line at North Peak wasn't too bad today. Took Upper Speakeasy to get back to the West Basin, it was in good shape. Saw that the rope was down on Lower Speakeasy, report had it as closed. A bunch of folks went down it so I took it. It has areas of ice and thin coverage but with the new snow it was pretty good. Then skied the rest of the West Basin trails. Upper and Lower Rumrunner were both skied off by then. Coolidge Street was in good shape though.
Temperature was 13° at opening, rose to 23° in the afternoon. Mostly cloudy to start, mostly sunny in the afternoon. It was windy but didn't affect the lift operations. The wind did blow off some of the new snow though.
