Comments CommentsA couple inches of “surprise” overnight snow fall, according to locals, created some fun conditions for the day. Base and mid-mountain conditions held up well all day. Wind played a strong roll in scouring upper mountain trails and keeping the Timberline chair from running. Unfortunately not a surprise that the Timberline chair was closed, most often our timing has dictated that it could be. Luckily, Skyline and King Pine were open and offered access to the upper most parts of the mountain. The King Pine complex offered one continuous groomed trails, and plentiful natural terrain to make us happy. Boomauger was fantastic!! We hunted down Springboard (old T-bar line) from the Whiffletree lift, and after hitting the lower part (while reliving some of my most fun Sugarloaf days with my husband), ultimately found Poleline which skied super top to bottom. Utilizing Skyline and SuperQuad for the majority of the upper mountain we found Hayburner to be excellent from first run to final run. We hustled our way down Bubblecuffer from the Spillway while admitting to each other how much we loved yesterday’s conditions at Saddleback. Double Bitter was a happy and fantastic find after. Earlier in the day we had found what I think is Branding Ax Glades which is a fine natural half pipe, and what I also think could have been an old poma line? Whatever it was...it was a super blast. We also LOVED Binder, super natural conditions. Stopped at the old Timberline Lodge (they have indoor and heated outdoor bathrooms) and made our way down Scoot which is ALWAYS awesome. Great snow skiers left, good character too. Timberline trail was a lot of fun, dumping down to Windrow due to the West mountain trail expansion.

We were very happy skiing all day, temps stayed in the teens, and the wind kept the air crisp. Folks hiked up to the Snowfields, which weren’t roped off - hence the 85% open rating given personally.
