Comments CommentsToday was my best day at Wachusett so far this season. Lots of deep soft snow everywhere from the big storm earlier this week. Stayed on the Polar Express and lapped Smith Walton and 10'th Mountain. Made one run each on Conifer Connection and Balance Rock, but the soft bumps on the two steeper trails were the place to be today. It was very busy at opening bell, lasting for the first couple of hours. Professional development day at local schools so lots of kids today. Also lots of folks took the day off or were "Working From Home" today.

The lift attendants were doing a good job of keeping things moving and well organized. I noticed lately that they are calling out singles that use the group line when the singles line gets longer. They make them wait and tell them to use the singles line next time.

The RFID gates at Wachusett work flawlessly every single time, as long as your pass is valid and not in the same pocket as your phone. At Loon its a 50/50 deal whether or not it will work without having to mess around with the RFID card position.

My Steel pass at Wachusett is only valid Mon - Thurs, so I had to buy a lift ticket today. I missed out on the $17 St Pats deal, they were sold out before I found out about it. For the remainder of the season they are offering a 25% discount for passholders of any other ski areas. The best prices are online when you buy in advance, and they could sell out. However there is no way to get the passholder discount online. So the way to do it is to buy the RFID card reload online the day before, then when you show up go to customer service and explain the situation. They will issue a refund to your method of payment for the discount. I bought the new 4-hour session option. This gives you exactly four hours on the lift starting from whatever time you first scan through the RFID gates.
