Trail Conditions | 98% open; Loose Granular, Variable Conditions |

Glades | Everything was open, but low tide and crusty. Only one I went into was White Kitten. |

Moguls | Bumps on a lot of the all natural terrain, although they were mostly on the small side. The biggest mogul fields I came across were on middle Black Line and Heart of Magician. |
![Terrain Park](iconterrainpark.png) |
Terrain Park(s) | The usual rope-tow park on Hocus Pocus. |

Run of the Day | Magic Carpet |
![Food and Beverage](iconcoffee.png) |
Food and Beverage | Grabbed a hot dog from the T-bar and kept on skiing. It was nice enough that I didn't feel like going into the lodge to warm up. |

Comments | Sunday was a bit of a mixed bag at Magic. Nearly everything was open, but the conditions widely varied depending on elevation, exposure, and whether or not the terrain was all natural or groomed. Natural terrain was pretty icy (and you had to be careful for rocks and such), but got better in the afternoon and wasn't unmanageable. There were some pockets of softer snow/granular where the sun was hitting. The low angle natural trails (Up Your Sleeve, Carumba, Vertigo) all skied pretty well and hadn't been scraped off. The groomers were mostly packed/powder loose granular.
Got 12 runs in, including four on the west side. Wizard Chute has definitely received a badly-needed widening. That said, snow hadn't been made on it from what I could tell, and it was skied off enough that I scraped a rock. Somehow, that was the only impact that my skis took despite the conditions. Sorcerer skied pretty good even earlier in the day, was edgeable enough with some softer snow on the sides. Talisman was icier and had some odd bumps further down. Heart of Magician had solid enough coverage, but you had to be careful on Broomstick. Pitch Black/Black Line was TOUGH - a challenging trail to begin with made even harder by the conditions. Definitely some delayed gratification on that one.
For the most part I stayed on the East Side. Another few inches of snow (and hopefully not a major meltdown this weekend) and the west side will be a lot better. |
