Comments CommentsFour inches of fresh snow at BMOM made for a nice change of pace after weeks of spring skiing. Today was also one of the windiest days I've ever skied on. Winds were sustained 25-35 mph in the morning, with gusts up to 50 mph. It got a little less windy in the afternoon, but not by much. Sunny skies for most of the day helped moderate the wind chill a bit. There were very few people on the mountain, with no more than a handful skiing at any given time.

This new snow actually allowed for a few rope drops on Penobscot and the very top part of Rapid. Groomed trails were mostly packed powder with areas of frozen granular where the wind had blown the snow away. Rapid was ungroomed and had lots of fun powder stashes. Penobscot had very thin cover, and basically only skier's right was skiable. It was good to see a return to winter conditions, and it looks like more are on the way this weekend!
