Comments | Took advantage of the free closing day at Sunday River. Day 19 on the year for me. Off and on rain the whole drive up, but thankfully no rain at the mountain. They made the right decision to close this weekend instead of next because there were many thin / bare spots all over the Jordan side. Got there around 11:30. Parking lot never got full. Boots On was an expert trail with deep carved out lines and mud and rocks to try to avoid. No lines ever for the 8 pack, they didn't even have the gates set up which was nice. 6 ways down from top, although you had to either walk or side step Kansas by Poppy Fields. Rogue Angel had the most treacherous narrows to navigate at the top. Lollapalooza was a nice cruiser all day. Cyclone, Northern Lights and Firestar all skiied great but had sections of narrow and bare spots by the end of the day. Crazy weather too. Calm cloudy skies gave way to high winds and snow/gropple at the top. Sun peaked out once, but this wasn't a jacket free spring day by any means. Overall the conditions were really good for this late in the season. Saw a momma bear walking across the liftline half way up with 3 adorable little cubs behind her!!
Who's up for Champagne and Caviar with Erik Mortgensen next Saturday?? |
