Comments CommentsWow I'm really the first one here?! Out of the 3 times I've skieed opening week at big K, this was the best and most enjoyable. Got to the base at 10:30, and found parking easily in the 3rd row of the main lot. Decent amount of natural snow still holding to the trails from the early season snow storms VT has been receiving. It was nice to have options besides Rime and Reason, with High Traverse off the North Ridge to bring you back to either Great Northern or Downdraft on the Gondola side. Upper Cascade and Upper Downdraft were even open too, albeit with thin cover, but even by 1 pm no dirt was showing. The lines even when the ropes were all full up never gave me more than a couple minutes wait, the singles line moved pretty quick. Cloudy and cold with a few breaks of sunshine here and there. Guns blasting to give more cover down the mountain with a top to bottom of the gondola threatening to open. Will probably be tomorrow. Had the Snowdon 6 spinning as I left the parking lot for the day, probably testing it, no way there is enough snow on that side yet. New Superstar 6 looked ready to go, all they need now is a snow base. Welcome to the 2026 season boys and girls!
