| Comments | One way down from the top of the double, splitting into two was down from the top of the triple. Upper Maple Slalom from the top was okay with a few random rocks. Thereafter, it was Chute to Valley View to Maple Slalom. The bottom of Maple Slalom (Down Under) has been significantly widened with the new snowmaking installation. I think I prefer it to Jackson Standard, since they left a few of the large trees. Sugarbush opened at 10AM. Awkward groom (lots of golf balls and random divots; presumably first groom after snowmaking), but they did a much better job with the trail than I was expecting, leaving many large trees in the middle. Both chairlifts were running and were ski-on. Main lot was nearly full around 11, in part due to reduced capacity from all of the Entabeni equipment parked along the back. Though the screen in the ticket office (Entabeni POS system is still ridiculously cumbersome; took 5 minutes to get a redemption, even with existing RFID) said that snowmaking is running 24/7, it was not running this morning (temperatures in the teens). Looks like the next target will be Jubilee (fan guns lined up). Noted a lot of work in progress (two excavators near the top of Jackson Standard, parking lot/reconfigured beginner lift still in progress, communications line partially installed on platter lift). Also noted new abutments and a few piles of lumber near the top of Sugarbush, presumably for another on-mountain F&B facility. | |
