| Comments | Managed to snag a community ski day ticket, which included lunch (standard cafeteria fare). Main mountain and Witches were both busy, with an estimated 500 skiers (some treating it like a Saturday at Mt. Snow unfortunately). Lower mountain was a ghost town. Most trails were open, except Middle and Lower Oh No (guns lined up), the Tage complex (guns lined up), Last Straw, and Natural Hayseed. Every trail in the Witches was groomed except for Wizard. Some nice, albeit short steeps. Everything skied nicely in the morning. Main mountain was nice first thing, but the wind scoured areas up high (Oh No in particular). Boyd's Beard was open with firm whales. Outcast was fun with a number of whales/rolls. The Shaft was quite nice, as it seemed to be where the wind blown powder was accumulating. Fannie Hill complex was still corduroy even in the early afternoon. The Clubhouse was beautiful with almost a Snow Basin feel to it. Barnstormer 6 pack bubble was appreciated with the brisk winds. I never made it here when it was still open to the public, so it was nice to finally check it out. Reminds me of a more tame version of the Sterling complex at Smuggs. Apart from the Witches and the short steeps at the top, it's very much an intermediate cruiser mountain. | |
