Glades Gladesglades were mostly excellent. Only issue was access to the Abyss: top of Flying Yankee upper right has large icy snowmaking mound - I went around that to the right, immediately washed out, sliding down the ice. At that point I think I washed out again or something on the entrance to the glade proper, fell, and hit the back of my head hard on the ground. Feeling a bit woozy, my run through the glade was just survival riding, eventually going too far to the right and missing the escape hatch through the netting which was considerably uphill from where I was. I considered lifting the netting and trying to get under but that wasn't happening either. When I finally emerged I was just happy to be out. The other glades were all excellent with fresh powder on nice natural grippy snow. Didn't do Triple or Double-take because the cliffy sections are usually scraped off by the time I get in there.
Moguls MogulsSweepstakes was basically just a mogul run. Top had unrideable pointy moguls taller than me, so, I just side-slipped to get by them. Once in the top, the rest were manageable moguls with soft snow in-between
Terrain Park Terrain Park(s)Wild Side/Wild Ride had some spectacular jumpers. We went down right side to avoid features but eventually got pushed into hopping the cutover to Reggae Glades.
Run of the Day Run of the DayRags to Riches was perfect - lots of untouched powder and manageable trees.
Food and Beverage Food and BeverageWe went in around 10:30 for some hot cocoa and a peanut butter cookie. Both were excellent but there were no mini marshmallows. Around 12:30 ish we went to the restaurant/bar for some adult beverages and nachos with pulled pork. Both were excellent and really hit the spot.
Comments CommentsOne of the best days of the season for me. Good thing there were a couple inches of fresh pow because otherwise the groomers would be pretty icy. We had to start on Flying Yankee to get there before the race course was set up and the run closed. That first run was just magical: perfect canvas and just floating back and forth. Second run on it was good but not as magical. Woods were amazing all day. Gobbler's Knob to Ridge Runner was perhaps the longest glade run I think I've done in a long time - really warmed up in that one. Just a fabulous day - totally used up all my energy. Thanks Amy for a fun day!!!
