Comments Comments100% or 66% or 0% open. 2 of 3 trails, Or is it 2 of 2 as I am not sure you are allowed to ski on the tow line trail. 0 of 1 lift, 40°F, cloudy with rain before I arrived, moderate wind. Wet snow and hard pack.
Drove up from Augusta after noon. There was possibility of rain in that area in the afternoon, temps in the 40, and sure enough just as we got off 95 it started. Further up 157 it looked like it had been raining for a while.
The high school lot was jammed. Basketball or something. After getting thru the chaos (you go straight thru the lot). There were a few people talking at a pickup near a big storage shed. We inquired where the tow is and they said it was here. But they just closed, sorry but they said come back tomorrow. But we just drove from 2-1/2 hrs from Augusta?!?! We continued on a short quarter mile to a dead end turn around. You then walk a bit to the tow. It’s the 3rd trail over. It was roped off top and bottom. There was a closed sign on the lift shack. The 3 trails don't really connect at the bottom & just dump onto a flat field. I said what the heck since it is about 75 ft vertical and got my skis and did 3 runs. It had stopped raining by the time I was walking up. It didn’t look like anyone had skied there today. It was well packed. It skied nice for the few turns it lasted. There’s a wire fence at the top separating it from the golf course with no trespassing signs and ones saying security cams in use. I believe thats where the original tow in the 50s continued on up as it is a nice gently slope way up the golf course. When I attempted to walk over to the top return to take pics I sunk up past my knees. Took a little work to extricate self. Later an annoying drone came and hovered overhead on my last trip. I felt like an Olympian.
Packing up at the car I met a local about my age in the lot who came to take pics. He confirmed this was the location of the original tow and it continued up where the golf course is. He was disappointed it wasn't running as he wanted to send pics to his kids of a tow running in town.

Sun came out as we headed back down 95. Beautiful sunset

Suggestions for tow Fbook page: Post the location. Post and put up a sign when you are closing during your announced hours.
