| Comments | Winter returned with the arrival of calendar spring. A couple of inches of snow refreshed all of the snowmaking terrain and allowed for a few natural trails to reopen, albeit in a bony state. There is currently nowhere on their web site right now that lists their operating hours. They open the Mid-Burke Express at 9. All Sherburne Quad trails were open (J-Bar appeared to be broken) and skiing well. On the main mountain, the groomed runs included Big Dipper, Carriage Road, Upper Deer Run, Little Dipper, McHarg's (closed to the public), Warren's Way (closed to the public except for about 30 minutes late morning), Upper Fox's Folly, Shoot to Ledges, Willoughby, The Gap, and Graham Slam. Skiing was particularly good for the first hour with great groomed packed powder (with about an inch of powder on top of some of the early grooms, such as Little Dipper). East Bowl opened mid-morning. The pitch was a couple of inches on top of a patchy bulletproof base (blue ice and frozen granular) with some grassy spots, but better going down low (with a few random holes). After this, I opted not to try the other natural trails that opened (Wilderness, Powderhorn). The incoming storm may make a difference though. Not much in way of lift lines, apart from a couple of minutes long from 10 to 11 or so. | |
