Comments CommentsI almost didn't come up this weekend. Weather forecasts kept saying cloudy and rainy. Took a chance on Saturday being decent and boy was it ever! Warm temps Friday gave way to an actual freeze up overnight. I parked at 8:30 and booted up in the patio area next to the Super Bravo lift. In 40 years of skiing, this is the very first time I've ever actually stood in line and waited for a lift to open. The snow at Allyn's Lodge and all the way down to say lower Jester was definitely "louder powder" and I could have easily skipped this first hour of skiing while the base softened up, which it did before long and by 11 everything was perfect spring snow. The sun even came out and it became a coatless sunny bluebird day. Best spring snow was off Gadd Peak, although North Linx offered a pair of excellent options which were more deserving of the 2 runs we gave them. Jester softened up perfectly all day. Ripcord stayed pretty solid and firm. Murphy's Glade was open and fun, as long as you could pick the right line to avoid a few large bare spots in the middle. Lapped mostly Jester to either Gadd Peak area or Downspout/Lower Jester. Even ducked into the only skiable woods on the mountain off Snowball for a quick in and out. Watched the pond skim a little. Fun to see all the costumes. Hiked up to the observation deck on the Long Trail and skied down the semi abandoned section of the original Jester Trail for the first time. All in all, a really great day. They stayed open till 5, but my legs were shot by 3:30. Day 19 in the books. Not sure if I'll get to 20. We'll see how April goes. May?? June on Superstar or Entebenni Mountain??
