| Comments | Did the $29 Indy (day 3+) deal. Good spring skiing this morning with more snowpack than a year ago at this time. I didn't see "an average base depth of 15 feet," but there are areas that deep, and otherwise generally what looks to be 5-6 feet of base. The snowmaking earlier this week seemed to help. Main route is Upper Maple Slalom to Chute to Maple Slalom. From the bottom of Chute, or from a crossover on Maple Slalom, one can ski the headwall of Jackson Standard, before cutting back over to Maple Slalom. Upper Maple Slalom was choppy this morning, as it had partially set up overnight and had some golf balls. From the top of the triple down was much smoother. The two access points onto Upper Jackson Standard were thin with some rocks, but Upper Jackson Standard itself was good with strong base depth. Chute to Maple Slalom skied well. Plenty of snow from the bottom of the triple to the bottom of the double. Lifts were generally ski-on this morning (a few chair wait on occasion for the double, but almost no one riding the triple. Trails were generally not too busy, but occasionally congested. Noted a bunch of new snowmaking pipe on lower Ninow awaiting installation. Also saw a few haul rope spools on a trailer. May should be a lay-up at this point, but Memorial Day top-to-bottom on continuous snow seems like a stretch at this point. | |
