Comments | Really strong day today, despite the wet weather in previous days. Both the double and triple were running. Chute and Maple Slalom from the triple top/double mid-station was skiing very well with solid cover throughout. Moguls naturally formed but were very soft and not icy in between. Upper Maple Slalom from the summit of the double was open, but is getting pretty thin near the top with exposed rocks poking through. I am not confident the summit will remain open next weekend, especially given the r*in in the forecast for this week. Upper Jackson Standard was also open via the entrance from Maple Slalom, but the entrance is also very thin with exposed earth and likewise doubtful to remain open next weekend. Great vibes all around, even live music in the lodge in the afternoon. President/GM Erik was around the lodge as well. If you see him, give him a shoutout. Not only is he bringing tremendous new business to Black Mountain, but he may be the most honest ski area president I've ever heard from. I really hope the weather cooperates and they can make Memorial Day weekend as they plan. |
