Comments CommentsBack at Sugarloaf after 3 years. Last visited in March of 2018, and it's just as awesome now as it was back then. Went with a big crew of 7 from Sunday River.

We arrived at roughly around 9:00 and booted up at our cars. Super Quad and Skyline started out on wind hold, and Timberline never opened. We lapped Double-Runner East and Whiffletree lifts for a bit until Super Quad opened up around 9:50.

It actually got above freezing during the day, but up top it was a bit colder and kept most of the trails very firm. It got better later though. Kings Landing, Narrow Gauge, Hayburner and Windrow were pretty fast, with some spots of golf balls here and there. Some wind blown snow on Upper Binder (a narrow powerline trail in-between Timberline and Tote Road). Reminds me of Upper Cut at Sunday River. Fast and tight for sure!

Skyline opened up at 10:45. We took Gondola Line, Sluice and Spillway. Spillway has a great ledge overlooking Gondola Line. Launched off it once before, and did it again today for old time's sake. Never gets old. Great runs, and mildy cold and icy. Wouldn't have it any other way though.

All things considered, it was another great day. Most of us agreed that it was definitely better than what we thought, given the conditions. For 5 out of 7 of us, Sugarloaf was actually a place they've never skied before. Most of us agreed that it was better than what we expected for late march!
