Lift Lines Lift Lines3 to 5 minutes
Snow Trail Conditions95% open; Packed Powder, Variable Conditions
Glades GladesThe goods were in the woods! Still a bit of firm base snow exposed (especially on Deliverance) but most woods skied way better than the trails. Even with the powder on top I didn't really hit any rocks, thanks to the solidified base snowpack from all the snow they've got over the last two months.
Moguls MogulsThere were bumps on most of the steeper natural trails. Not the most fun to ski since the troughs got scraped down to ice after a couple hours.
Terrain Park Terrain Park(s)Three parks open off of the Taxi Quad according to the report
Run of the Day Run of the DayBeaver Pond Glade

Comments CommentsAfter yesterday’s “nonfrozen precipitation”, things turned around nicely at Jay Peak today with around 6 inches of back-end snow overnight. However it was hard to tell exactly how much snow had fallen because of the high winds causing it to blow around a lot. In the morning it was uncertain at first if any upper lifts would be open, but the Bonaventure Quad ran from around 9:00 till closing, with the lower lifts also spinning. Unfortunately the Jet, Flyer and Tram never made it off wind hold. It wasn’t too crowded despite being holiday week, with lift lines maxing out at 5 minutes. I imagine the cold and wind (I heard -18 degrees windchill) kept some people off the slopes.

Pretty much all the groomed trails were wind-scoured and bulletproof, with patrol roping off Upper Goat Run and designating Northway as a black diamond in the afternoon since conditions were so bad. However on Northway you could keep to skier’s right where there was a bit of softer snow. As one would expect on a windy powder day, the glades had by far the best conditions and I think I skied at least some trees on every run. Snowmaking was running on Lower River Quai and Green Mountain Boys (both closed as well as some other trails around them).

Once in the morning and once in the afternoon, I skated up from the top of Bonny and took Wedelmaster across to ski terrain on Tramside. Looks like Ullr’s Dream was hit pretty hard by the warmup with several thin spots showing, but Beaver Pond Glade was fantastic since not many people were going over there!
