Comments | Fun day at Loon with comfortable temperatures in the 30s, partly cloudy skies, and pretty much the whole mountain open apart from Triple Trouble, the Timbertown area, and some of the glades. It felt decently busy for a weekday but lines were usually only a few chairs. Conditions were good wet packed powder on most trails, with the highest elevations having a lighter, more typical packed powder surface. Some of the steeper trails got a bit skied off going into the afternoon which I feel like is pretty typical for Loon.
Towards the end of the day I took a victory lap on the Kissin' Cousin Double just for fun and since I hadn’t ridden that lift on any previous visit to Loon. It’s a pretty interesting beginner area, with the lift being relatively steep and the run (Snubber) switchbacking its way down the mountain. A bit different from the typical wide bunny hill.
Hopefully we get a few good storms in the second half of January after this little warm spell! |
