Comments | Wachusett exceeded my expectations for night skiing last night. I was expecting there to be quite a bit of ice, and any nice snow from the last big storm long gone, but conditions were packed powder on a firm hardpack base. Most of the intermediate trails skied well, while 10th Mountain Trail and Smith Walton each had some avoidable scratchy spots on their respective pitch. The weather was clear and calm with temperatures in the 20s.
I never waited more than a minute for any lift, despite there being a lot of school groups at the mountain as usual. The new Polar Express six-pack is a comfortable ride, with a similar speed to the old quad. The covered chair parking facility right in the middle of the base area is a bit of an eyesore though. |
