Comments CommentsI can't even recall the last time I went to a ski area and said, "I was disappointed" but today I did.
Seriously, I confess I had a hard time believing the wind hold story when my pals from Wildcat to Cannon were saying that it was windy but they were getting it done.
I lasted l.5 hours skiing the lower slopes and I was bored. Good snow, very good snow but no Green Peak, No Sunny side and no summit quad. Only the Valley Run Quad was open and then they had one of the two lift lines roped which made for an annoying trip to the lift since there were no lines but if a child or when people decided to stand in the lift line there was no way to go around them--frustrations that didn't need be. Thankgoodness for the T-bar, best runs of the day and the best lift attendant too--he cared! Even took a spin on the J-bar since there was nothing else to do.
The snow conditions were excellent, grooming coupled with the fresh snow made for nice turning.
My husband went xc skiing and he gave the conditions and grooming at perfect 10. I wish I went xc skiing instead.
Highlight of the day is having lunch in the town square at the new Mex food restaurant.. La Hacienda.. go there, you'll be happy.
